Charlotte Tilbury Makeup – “The Dolce Vita” and “The Rock Chick” Luxury Eyeshadow Palettes

I’ve already ordered a few Charlotte Tilbury products last year (the Rock ‘N’ Kohl Liner in “Marlene Midnight” and the Cheek To Chic Swish and Pop Blush in “First Love”). A review on these products is coming up soon but here’s a (ok not so brief) review on the two Luxury Palettes I have – “The Dolce Vita” and “The Rock Chick”.

My underrated sleek travel companion – Travel-Size Full Exposure Palette by Smashbox

Yes, it took me THAT long to buy and try this palette, although I am generally a big fan of Smashbox. Although I have always liked the  selection of neutral colors when I looked it up online, the number of negative reviews kind of ruined it for me. Plus, I already have a great selection of eyeshadows (singles and palettes). Another reason why I was hesitant to buy it, was the amount of glitter in the eyeshadows in the top row. Each time I looked at this palette in “person” it was just too glittery for my personal taste because the glitter seemed chunky to me. However, while I was on travel a few weeks ago, I decided to get the small travel-size one and I am glad I did.

However, I want to share with you some of the products I added, to either my personal or professional kit, and that I’ve had good results with.

Back in the 90’s it was all about matte finishes.  For a long time, I too thought that this was the way to go to achieve a clean and flawless base.

Luckily, with the new light foundations and powders that give skin a luminous glow, there came bronzers and highlighters too for a more defined look, adding contour and light just to the right places. While for some skin types matte is still the preferred finish, I personally am a big fan of dewy and natural looking skin that has a healthy “glow” to it.

Most often that glow is not at all natural though, so we need a little help from products like highlighters and illuminators.

While my favorite illuminating product is still Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector (the liquid in the shades Rose Gold and Opal), I was looking into alternatives that are less pricey. One of those alternatives is Laura Geller’s Baked Highlighter in French Vanilla.
